I wish to use vestaCP although I do not want to uninstall my pre-existing web server since it has almost 12 GB of data. Is it possible to keep my old apache install?

Control panels like to take over take over the whole system. It’s generally best to do the install on a fresh server. You can installing on top of your existing set up if you don’t want to move the 12GB of data around, but I wouldn’t expect that any web site that you have setup with Apache will continue to work. Though it might surprise us!
I’d suggest taking a snapshot of the droplet before doing this. That way you can revert back if you don’t like the results.
