What is the ideal web server setup?

I am setting up a basic web server with a simple website and emailing, pretty standard.

What is the ideal server setup in terms of installing server components? (i.e. varnish, spdy, memcached, Apache, Nginx, etc.)

I currently have a blank server running Ubuntu 14.10 x32, attached to a domain name, so im starting fresh.

Also, I will be installing a basic non-wildcard, single domain SSL certificate as well.

Thank you in advance for your time and effort. :)

I’m a big fan of Nginx personally, but this is really one of those questions where there isn’t a right or wrong answer. They both have pros and cons. I generally suggest people just use the one they will be most productive with. Unless you’re specifically looking to learn about a new piece of technology, use what you’re already more comfortable and knowledgeable with.
