A use case of mine is to trigger file processing upon completion of an upload. AWS supports this with S3 events and SNS/lambda, and GCP has this with a Cloud Storage trigger to Cloud functions.

I believe that there are no official announcements that this is on the road map. But it indeed sounds like a great feature.
The best thing to do to get your voice heard regarding this would be to head over to our Product Ideas board and post a new idea, including as much information as possible for what you’d like to see implemented.
