DigitalOcean India: Inside Our Growing Hub for AI and Cloud Innovation

Since expanding into the Hyderabad market exactly twelve months ago, the broader India team has rapidly evolved into a core engine for our global business, shipping high-impact products at record speed. Time flies when you are having fun! As we celebrate this anniversary, we recognize a year of unparalleled execution and look forward to the region’s next massive milestone: building DigitalOcean’s Agentic Inference Cloud.

A history of high-velocity growth

DigitalOcean recently achieved record growth as a $1B global inference cloud company, supporting over 640K customers in 190 countries across 18 globally distributed data centers, including one in Bangalore. Over time, we have supported larger, more complex AI and Digital-Native workloads for companies like Character.ai and Workato, and have established partnerships with AMD and NVIDIA. Our team in India has grown alongside the company, becoming a critical hub for product-led innovation. In the last year alone, we have doubled in size with over 370 employees in-region as we develop the next generation of AI inference and position the company for accelerated growth.

Building the AI inference cloud

DigitalOcean has brought together talent from across India - from Engineers to Technology Evangelists, Product Managers, and UI experts - to build DigitalOcean’s Agentic Inference cloud. This includes products like GPU Droplets, Gradient AI, and our App Platform, which enable customers to perform inference at scale. Over the last year, teams here have contributed to launches across networking, storage, security, and more, supporting new capabilities for the cloud stack. Our values of simplicity, velocity, and experimentation mean employees are given ownership and can make an impact from Day 1. Engineers here work closely with teams to test new ideas and build ambitious solutions that power DigitalOcean’s platform.

That last part of removing complexity is what my team is focused on, whether it is customers trying to access DO through APIs, where over a billion requests are made every week, or organizing their massive organizations through various accounts to get the best use of DigitalOcean’s infrastructure. We are also focused on alleviating the pain points of developers within DO as well. After much dedication, the features developed by the team were showcased in London Deploy 2025, which included account hierarchy and single sign-on that served a thousand customers in just three months,” notes Ravi Grandhi, Senior Director of Engineering.
