Any plans to allow Drupal 7 one-click install?

One-Click Install Apps Drupal CentOS

I understand that Drupal 8 is now available to the community as is the one-click droplet setup for it, however the vast majority of Drupal developers will be sticking to Drupal 7.x for now as there is much wider module support.

So, are there any plans to allow a Drupal 7 one-click install?

We do not have any plans for a Drupal 7 One-Click at this time. Generally one-clicks will provide the latest stable release of the selected software.

  • Thanks for your response Ryan. I appreciate that you provide One-Click images only as a convenience; however, as OP mentions, there will continue to be a significant demand for Drupal 7 for some time.

In our case, the disappearance of a Drupal 7 One-Click image means that we are no longer able to use DigitalOcean for any of our Drupal hosting, and now have to look for (more complicated; eg. Wodby) alternatives.

If there was some notice that the Drupal 7 One-Click image was going to be deprecated, we could've spun up a quick instance and taken a snapshot to work with for the foreseeable future.

All this to say: I understand where you're coming from, but Drupal is a bit of a special case, and this is going to significantly affect a lot of people. Thanks as always for your great support.

Can't help but feel this is a mistake. Drupal 8 may well be stable but the vast majority of people will not use it for production until the modules catch up with the core. As mjsuhonos says "there will continue to be a significant demand for Drupal 7 for some time"

All the best
