I just created a droplet with Fedora 24 on it. I have three older droplets with Fedora 23 on them.
What is the best way to update the older ones to 24 as well? These are the two approaches I can come up with:
Option (1) is very labor intensive, but I’m afraid that option (2) will result in a suboptimal end result (old and new settings next to each other, possible conflicts).
Any experience/advice on this is highly appreciated!

I attempted #2 today and ended up restoring from a backup. The eth0 interface completely disappeared and killed the networking.
According to this tutorial page on upgrading Ubuntu in-place, the “safer and more predictable” way to upgrade is by installing from scratch.
That said, I tried your #2 option, held my breath for awhile while I couldn’t access the system from the console or by ssh, but eventually had a working Fedora 24 upgrade.
