Better WP Security Plugin and Nginx Configuration

March 17, 2014 2.3k views
Hello everyone, I have a question I was no table to find an answer to here, or anywhere else. What would be the necessary configuration for nginx in order for the Better Wp Security plugin to work? I saw on their plugin information they say you have to configure Nginx manually but that's where they leave it. I am running 512MB Ram Ubuntu 12.04.3 x32 NGINX is installed, so is Wordpress. Thanks

huh ? I had better wp and Nginx and config nothing at all, works fine
It would be great if that is the case.
I have not tried it yet but this is what they say:
"Works with Apache, LiteSpeed or NGINX (NGINX will require you to manually edit your virtual host configuration)"

Anyone else have experience with this plugin and nginx?
The first page or "dashboard" of the plugin's settings in your admin area will give you a cut and paste script to copy and paste into your nginx.conf file that is located in the root of your WP site (not the one in your /etc/nginx folder).

If you need more instructions than that, I'm going to suggest Apache until you are more familiar with nginx and security.

Best of luck!

(also, this information is _in_ the plugin's instructions on its admin pages if I recall. If you aren't the sort who is into attention to detail and reading documentation until you've got it down cold, linux/nginx may not be for you. There are a lot of root kitted zombies out there.)
