Can I get a Ubuntu 12 Installation to be later upgraded to 14?

Hi Digital Ocean,
I am currently using shared hosting, and I have been recommended moving to your site for a VPS solution.
I want to setup and use several WP- based websites, and I have found zPanel, a great free alternative to cPanel, that works on a Ubuntu Stack - but so far it’s supported only on Ubuntu 12, and I see that you provide Ubuntu 14.
I see that you provide a Ubuntu Distribution & a One-Click WP Install.
My question is whether there is a way to get from you a Ubuntu 12 installation, with the possibility of upgrading later to 14 when zPanel will release a supported version?
Also - what is the price tag for the Distributions & a One-Click App Installs?
Thank you,

Although it isn’t that difficult to upgrade from 12.04 to 14.04, it can be time consuming and tedious. Typically you’ll need to know the command line quite extensively for things such as unmounting the root partition, bootstrapping and verifying that your upgrade was successful. I can’t speak for digital ocean on pricing, but I can tell you that you may want to take advantage of what a cloud provider is actually doing for you. Persistent servers can grow stale over time. It sounds to me, like what you really want to checkout is Chef or some other cloud agnostic configuration tool. For instance, at my company, we are able to write “cookbooks” that support multiple Linux families, but also specific versions (IE 12.04, 14.04) The beauty here, is that you can nuke your server when time is right and simply run a cookbook that installs Wordpress, pulls your code from a Git repo, and whatever else you can imagine. That way, you can have a 14.04 node in minutes vs. doing everything by hand once every two years.
