Question

Can't access to server with IP adress

Hello Digital ocean community.

As i was following through the tutorial https://h-educate.com/free-smtp-server-postal/ to install postal in the droplet I just bought from digital ocean it looks like I cannot access my droplet via its IP address. After successful step-by-step installation, when I reach https://142.93.193.114/ I have the message that says " this site can’t provide with secure connection ". I wanna say first that I am rather new to it and it has been a few days I am trying different tutorials to install the necessary programs onto a droplet but so far I haven’t been successful and this error message I mentioned above has been prevalent over all the installations I have set up. If someone more knowledgeable than me can enlighten me with where could be the problem coming from I would gladly appreciate the help.

Hi @gregsalmon,

You can never have a secure connection over an IP address. In order to use HTTPS, you’ll need to configure a domain on your Droplet that has SSL installed on it.

Try to access your Droplet with HTTP and it should work as expected.
