Hi I’m currently working on a group project, where my friend has to access the database on the mysql server hosted in Digital Ocean. We have a problem that seems to only occur for my friend’s mysql workbench on Windows 10 which after following this tutorial https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-connect-to-a-mysql-server-remotely-with-mysql-workbench. It shows an error sighting “Could not connect Unknown Authentication Type”. We are somewhat confused cause upon trying on other laptops using mysql workbench in windows 10, it works flawlessly by following the same method. Any ideas as to why this is happening, it seems that searching everywhere no one else has this problem.

What authentication type are you using? If it is SSH, then you need to make sure that you friend’s public SSH key is also added to the server:
