I can't install MySQL on the server

Posted on March 11, 2025

I can’t install MySQL on the server; I get an error when following the tutorials on the website after entering this command sudo systemctl start mysql.service

root@fibralink:~# sudo systemctl start mysql.service Job for mysql.service failed because the control process exited with error code. See “systemctl status mysql.service” and “journalctl -xe” for details.

Heya,

Let’s troubleshoot your MySQL installation issue step by step.

Check the MySQL Service Status

sudo systemctl status mysql.service

This will provide more details on why MySQL is failing to start. Look for error messages in the output.

Check Detailed Logs

Run:

sudo journalctl -xe | grep mysql

This will show logs related to MySQL, which can help pinpoint the issue.

Check MySQL Logs

Try looking at MySQL logs for more details:

sudo cat /var/log/mysql/error.log
