Heya, @aaronmorel

You can use a tool like qemu-img which is capable of converting between various disk image formats.

The process will go like that. Extract the OVA file:

If you have an OVA file, extract it first to get the VMDK file inside.

tar -xvf yourfile.ova

This will give you one or more VMDK files.

Convert VMDK to Raw (.img) with MBR or GPT partition table:**

qemu-img convert -O raw yourfile.vmdk yourfile.img

You can specify the partition table type (MBR or GPT) using tools like parted after conversion if needed.

We have a similar article here:

Hope that this helps!

Hey!

I don’t think that this is supported, as far as I can see in the docs, images you upload to DigitalOcean must meet the following requirements:

  • Operating system. Images must have a Unix-like OS.

  • File format. Images must be in one of the following file formats:

The best thing to do to get your voice heard regarding this would be to head over to our Product Ideas board and post a new idea, including as much information as possible for what you’d like to see implemented.

Hope that helps!
