i was having a recently created wordpress droplet behaving intermittently / slowly. decided to destroy it but did not delete the domain associated with it fist.
i assumed i would have it when i logged back on in the account.
upon logging back in no domain or droplet exists, prompted me to create account from scratch including payment info.
after creating a new droplet when adding my domain ( spelling etc is correct ) i get a “Domain already exists” error.

Hello there,
The system performs a DNS lookup to see if the domain has already been added to DigitalOcean. If it has, you’ll receive a message that says that the domain example.com: Name already exists. If the domain has not been previously added to DigitalOcean’s DNS service, it will be added.
In our public community, we aim to answer open questions about anything SysAdmin, DigitalOcean and beyond. Hey @raulsantaella,
Please open a support ticket from within your account and include the domain name. You’ll need to verify ownership with a TXT record generated by the support and then they’ll remove the domain from the previous account so you can get it added.

Hope that helps!
I’m having the same issue. I used the domain previously and then deleted it from Digital Ocean. Now I want to add it back and I get the same message without it being accessible in the list of domains.
