Hello,
If I make a droplet offline ( not destroy it ) do I need to still do the payment for that?

Thanks

Hi, @Sam80

When you power off your droplet it is simply powered off. Your disk space and data is still there and is preserved.

Keep in mind that you are still billed for droplets that are powered off becase your diskspace, CPU, RAM, and IP address are all reserved while it is powered off. If you want to save a Droplet for future use take a snapshot of it and then destroy it. You’ll be able to create a new Droplet from the snapshot image anytime to bring it back online.

Hope that this helps!

Alex

  • Hello Alex!
Thanks for the reply. Ok I destroyed it (did not need backup). So basically I should not be charged anymore for such droplet that I destroyed from now.

      • Hello Alex!
Just one question. Yesterday I destroyed my droplet which was 40$ per month and moved to 5$ / month instead. Yesterday, y bill was 16.01 $ and today it becomes 17.29$. Sound is too strange when I destroyed the previous droplet and moved to 5$ instead. Should I do something else in order I do not being billed with 40$/month?
        Thanks
