email is the biggest setback in Digital Ocean from a user perspective

Posted on May 28, 2019

I am still very impressed by the speed of the server, I managed to move a whole wordpress site on this droplet CyberPanel 1.8.1 on Ubuntu 18.04 using litespeed …everything working so well except for the email. I’ve tried step by step to setup an email server using postfix still no chance …I’ve tried to use smtp gmail no chance. Ideally not looking for a full blown email server all I want is the wordpress site send emails and notifications to users and admin.

Anyone has a suggestion or could help me setup this .

Try using an SMTP plugin such as those listed here http://webcraft.tools/simple-smtp-plugins-for-wordpress/

Out of the box, Wordpress usually sends emails fine but these are sent from the server and often go to spam. An SMTP plugin you can connect to your gmail account and then they won’t go to spam.

I personally use SendInBlue SMTP (300 free emails per month) with Easy WP SMTP as I use my domain branded email address from 1 AND 1 which with SPF and DKIM dns records my emails don’t go into spam.
