Error Setting up Managed DB on App Platform

Posted on January 24, 2022

I’m trying to add my managed Postgresql cluster to my app on app platform. However, the DigitalOcean UI keeps giving me an error that I don’t know how to fix.

Steps in App Platform:

  1. Actions -> Create/attach database
  2. Select ‘Previously Created DigitalOcean Database’
  3. Select the db cluster, database, and user from the respective dropdowns.
  4. Select ‘Attach Database’

Error message:

'databases.name in body should match '^[a-z][a-z0-9-]{0,30}[a-z0-9]$'

This error message shows up as a pop-up in red. Any idea(s) what the issue could be? Appreciate any help!

Hi there,

It looks like the App platform does not allow the name of the cluster to exceed 30 characters. Is this the case for you?

If the cluster name is not longer than 30 characters, please reach out to our amazing support team who will be more than happy to assist you with this issue! :)

I will report this internally to the App platform team as well.

Best, Bobby
