After upgrading my droplet to Ubuntu 16.04 fail2ban has stop working. I managed to get fail2ban reconfigured so that will properly start. But for some reason fail2ban is not sending emails of the service starting or when IP Addressed have been “jailed”. Anyone have some pointers?

You can type !ref in this text area to quickly search our full set of tutorials, documentation & marketplace offerings and insert the link!
To try and debug this I would first review /var/log/auth.log for any messages that fail2ban may be recording and also review the logs for the MTA you have installed. Once you can determine if fail2ban is attempting to send the emails but the MTA is failing to send then you’ll want to start with the MTA in your troubleshooting.
