Failed to create new system journal: No space left on device

Posted on September 8, 2020

I cannot login to my droplet because I get the message:

login: [37401823.055226] systemd-journal[27657] Failed to create new system journal: No space left on device login: [37438226.727688] systemd-journal[27657] Failed to create new system journal: No space left on device

I added another volume, but it wasn’t effective.

I need to login to my machine, and fix this problem. I can’t even find a telephone number for support to help me.

Good Idea @ForYourIT, The exact sequence was that I tried to ssh in, and failed, and then went to the console, and got the message re no space left on device.

I haven’t rebooted because I read that a disk full situation can keep a system from booting. I don’t think there is anything like “single user mode” for digital ocean, is there ?
