High CPU droplet CPUs (Xeon Platinum 8168 vs Xeon E5-2697A v4)

Posted on October 9, 2017

"Access some of Intel’s® most powerful CPUs including Xeon Platinum 8168 (Skylake) with a 2.7 Ghz Clock Speed and Xeon E5-2697A v4 (Broadwell) with a 2.6 Ghz Clock Speed. "

High CPU introduction page states that 2 different CPUs are used for high CPU droplets. Does this mean some data centers use 8168 and some use E5-2697A? Or are they mixed in every data center? Do you have a list of CPUs used in each datacenter?

Currently, you can get Optimized Droplets (Formerly referred to as “High-CPU Droplets” ) running on Skylake instances definitively in Singapore (SGP1). All other regions are currently a mix of both the Xeon Platinum 8168 vs Xeon E5-2697Av4.

All new servers added to back Optimized Droplets are the Skylake processor so over time you should see more and more of them in the Fleet in other DCs.
