Hi friends,
I have a Droplet running Ubuntu 16.04 and was unable to log in even with correct credentials (the screen showing the error is here, if you’re curious). After applying incorrect advice from a few StackOverflow questions, I nuked my grub installation from the recovery disk.
I’ve tried sudo apt-get of the various grub packages (there was grub-pc, grub-efi-ia32, &c), and running sudo grub-install /dev/vda1. There tend to be errors of various kinds (“failed to get canonical path of overlay”), and I’ve gone through many forum posts/SO questions trying to do a clean reinstall of grub, and none of it has worked.
So I ask you, friends of DigitalOcean: have you been able to reinstall grub from the recovery ISO? Happy to provide additional details 😄
