You need to create an A record using your DNS Provider which points to mail.domain.com and the IP address of the droplet to be used as the email server then create another MX record which points to mail.domain.com.

Once that is finished you can install zimbra on your server and within minutes you will have your own email server up and running.

Hope this helps.

You are using a domain registrar right? maybe GoDaddy or something else.

Login to your dashboard on your domain registrar then create a new DNS record of type A, the DNS name should be mail.domain.com and the IP address should be the public IP address of the droplet you are using.

After that you need to create a new MX record with DNS name set to mail.comain.com and IP address to the IP address of your droplet.

Hint: MX record is used to forward email to your domain, if a mail server receives a message with your domain as the destination such as name@domain.com it will search for a MX record in domain.com to find the mail server for this domain.

One this is finished go to zimbra for installation instructions, I use zimbra it has a free community version and it is great I think you will love it.

Let me know if you have further questions.

First you create a free cloudflare account. Then add your domain at cloudflare. Change DNS to your domain registrar ( in Godaddy or Namecheap or whatever). You will get many videos on youtube, how to add domain in cloudflare.
Next you create a free Zoho mail business accounts. Next verify your domain ownership. In zoho they will provide MX, SPF, DKIM and create those entry in the cloudflare DNS record.
