Hi, I have a domain name that currently points to Squarespace. In additional to this domain name, I’d like to create a subdomain that points to my DO Droplet.
Do I need to create an A Record that points to my Droplet IP or is there a different way to go about this?
Thanks!

Hi!
To set this up, you’ll need to add an A record for the subdomain with whoever hosts the name servers for your domain. This may be your registrar, it may be DigitalOcean, or it may be hosted elsewhere. If you aren’t sure of where your domain’s DNS is hosted, you can find out by looking up your domain’s whois record in the section called “Name Server”. When adding the subdomain record, you will generally only need to add the name of the subdomain (i.e., the record for ‘sub.domain.com’ would only be named ‘sub’ and added to the ‘domain.com’ zone). From there, once the A record is pointed to your Droplet and the web server is configured, you should not have a problem connecting to your Droplet using the subdomain.
Hope this helps!
