I have an AI agent running on a DigitalOcean Droplet that sends transactional emails using the DigitalOcean inference platform to decide when and what to send. The agent has been running for a few weeks and emails are going out, but I have no visibility into what is actually being delivered, what is bouncing, and whether the emails are landing in spam.

Occasionally a customer mentions they did not receive an email but I have no way to investigate without manually digging through logs.

Have your agent log its own record at send time, recipient, timestamp, subject, and that message ID, into a small table rather than letting it go into stdout or a log file. When smtpfa.st ’s webhook or get_email reports a delivery, bounce, or spam complaint later, it comes back tagged with that same message ID, so you update the matching row instead of appending another disconnected log line: CREATE TABLE email_log ( message_id TEXT PRIMARY KEY, recipient TEXT, sent_at TIMESTAMP, subject TEXT, status TEXT DEFAULT 'sent', status_updated_at TIMESTAMP ); With that in place, "did customer X get their email" becomes a query by recipient and rough timestamp instead of grepping, and pairing it with smtpfa.st's get_email tool call gives your agent the same lookup ability directly. Also worth keying on message_id rather than inserting fresh rows per webhook, smtpfa.st's events can arrive out of order or duplicate on retry, so treating each one as an update keeps the record accurate even when a bounce notification shows up before the delivery confirmation does.
