How do I use CNAME Pointer on an IONOS Domain?

Posted on October 2, 2021

Hi,

I am trying to use my Domain registered at IONOS with my DO App. Whenever I try anything it gets stuck on configuring. I don’t want to connect my domain with the Nameserver method, because I can’t use my e-mail than and I for some reason cant do a HTTP redirect for SEO reasons.

Hello, @Henned

All you need to do is update the A record of your domain name. You don’t have to switch your nameservers to the DigitalOcean’s ones, a simple A record change will do the trick for you as well.

You need to point the A record to the IP address of your DigitalOcean droplet and that’s it.

Hope that this helps! Regards, Alex
