Hello @mplusplus ,

You can resize your Droplets from the cloud panel itself. Please see our tutorial on how to resize Droplets: https://www.digitalocean.com/docs/droplets/how-to/resize/

Please note that once you resize to a larger disk, you will no longer be able to resize to a smaller plan. This is because there will be a disk mismatch and we do not currently support shrinking a virtual server’s disk.

You will have to power off the Droplets before resize, so there would be some downtime. In general, it is a good practice and is recommended to take a Snapshot of the Droplet before making any changes to it. https://www.digitalocean.com/docs/images/snapshots/how-to/

Hope this helps!

Cheers, Lalitha

Hi @mplusplus,

You should not need to do anything else then turn off your droplet, resize it, and then start it back on.

No network or any kind of configuration changes will be needed as well. Basically, nothing in regards to the content of the droplet will be changed.

Having said that, I would suggest for you to create a backup prior to resizing your droplet just to be on the safe side.

Please note that once you resize to a larger disk, you will no longer be able to resize to a smaller plan. This is because there will be a disk mismatch and DigitalOcean does not currently support shrinking a virtual server’s disk.
