How to connect a domain from GoDaddy to DigitalOcean droplets and Zoho Mail?

Posted on December 28, 2023

Hello, I have a question I would like to ask. I have a domain on GoDaddy; I want to connect the domain to Droplet. But I also want to use Zoho Mail for the domain’s mail server. Is this possible? If possible, how to do it? Thanks

Heya @hilmihidayat,

Yes, that is possible. You have two options:

  • Change your Nameservers to DigitalOcean ones and manage your DNS from here
  • Keep your Nameservers where they are at moment and manage your DNS from there, just point your Domain to your Droplet.

If you already have configured your DNS, I’ll suggest the second option. All you need to do is, go to where your DNS is being managed and change the root A record’s IP address to your Droplet’s IP address. Next do the same for the www A record of your Domain and you are good to go.

Heya,

Yes this is totally doable. You have two options, the first one will be to manage the DNS with DigitalOcean and update your nameservers. From your DigitalOcean you can then update the MX record and set the Zoho MX record.

Second one is to keep the nameservers with GoDaddy and update the A record to match the IP address of your DigitalOcean droplet and update the MX record to Zoho.
