How to install sendy on a subdomain?

Posted on March 26, 2014

It’s my first time interacting with a server, so please bear with me…

I want to install sendy (http://sendy.co/get-started) on a subdomain of a site I currently host on Heroku. I use a ubuntu 12.04 + Lamp droplet. I uploaded the provided ‘sendy’ folder to var/www/sendy. I also used my DNSimple account to create a CNAME and A records that both redirect my subdomain to the server IP address.

When I go to mysubdomain.mydomain.com/sendy, nothing happens.

Can anyone help me figure out what I’m missing here?

I’ve documented this exact case in a complete guide to installing Sendy. I’ve included a lot of detail that helps you understand what you are doing, and why. Please check it out here:

It also covers how to make automated backups of your database and automate sending those to an AWS S3 bucket, as well as using certbot to generate SSL certs for https.

Turns out I had an extra config.php in the root of my Sendy application. The 2 config.php were in conflict. <br>Deleted one of them and now it works.Turns out I had an extra config.php in the root of my Sendy application. The 2 config.php were in conflict. <br>Deleted one of them and now it works.

Seems you will have to update Apache setup and include the subdomain there. Installing Sendy is little tricky. For us it took around 2 months to properly understand, but, fortunately, we came across a service called EasySendy, which automated everything for us.
