How to link my Gravatar account/image to my DigitalOcean Community Account profile?

On the Profile page for my DigitalOcean Community Account (CA) there's an Edit Image link next to my default image which, when clicked, reveals another link— Change Gravatar Image.

Clicking that link simply opens the Gravatar homepage, with no option to actually link my Gravatar account to my Community Account profile. Where else should I look to set this up?

Have you tried using the Gravatar site? Which part are you stuck on?

I've since added my DigitalOcean account email to my Gravatar profile. The email has been verified at Gravatar, however, I still can't find how to get my Community Account profile to use my Gravatar image.

  • Okay, interesting. Now that you went on the Gravatar site and made the change, it should update automatically, so I'm not sure what's going on. I would check if clearing your browser's cache made any difference and double-check that the email you use matches the one on the community site.

There's also an "Upload" button that allows you to set an avatar directly, if you don't want to use Gravatar.

Unfortunately, Gravatar still won't link with my Community Account profile.

It appears my only option now is as you said, to upload a picture on DO directly, independent of Gravatar.

      • You shouldn't exclude contacting DigitalOcean to find out if something is badly configured on your side. Other people here have avatars but I'm not sure if they set them up manually or through Gravatar.
