Hello,
I am trying to migrate a Wordpress site from Siteground to DigitalOcean by following the steps in this tutorial https://www.tabbloidx.co/migrate-a-wordpress-site-to-digitalocean-from-shared-hosting/
In the tutorial, he is able to login to a temporary install of wordpress and then to import the actual wordpress site before making the nameservers point at DigitalOcean.
The problem that I am having is that on step 3 I am unable to login to the Fresh installation of Wordpress using the ip url in order to install the migration plugin. Instead, I get redirected to the live website.
Is it possible for me to import the website before I change the nameservers to point at DigitalOcean? Thanks.

Hello, @thedanman
Just to clarify this, when you access the IP address of your Digital Ocean droplet in your browser, nothing works for you and you’re getting redirected away?
What you can also do is to simply migrate the website (files and database) on a fresh clean droplet without installing WordPress and using a migration pluigin.
The process is simple, you can copy the files over to your droplet (You first need to deploy the droplet and install/configure LAMP or LEMP so let me know if you have any questions about this process). To copy the files you can use SFTP, rsync or scp
You then just need to migrate the database and update/adjust your wp-config.php file and you’re ready to go.
Hope this helps.
Regards, Alex
