Question

How to resolve "Temporary failure resolving 'mirrors.digitalocean.com'" when running apt-get update?

Environment: Ubuntu 12.0.4.3

I am attempting to do a release upgrade, and starting the process by doing an apt-get update. When I run “apt-get update” I get the following errors detailed below. In summary it seems the Digital Ocean ubuntu mirrors have been changed. If so, what are the mirrors to ubuntu 12.0.4 LTS?

I know this is an old question but for future reference:

This might be a firewall issue. Enable DNS in your outbound rules.

Hello. Thanks for your reply. It seems like It’s my fault. I deleted log files yesterday to get some space, in doing so bind9 doesn’t want to start. So I am rebuilding my droplet. Thanks for your reply. I need a better way to clean up log files so i don’t mess up my system again.

Again, thanks for your reply.

From the output there it looks like your droplet is having general DNS trouble as it’s also unable to resolve other names. What is the current content of your /etc/resolv.conf file? Are you able to ping well known domains like google.com or wikipedia.org?
