Hello, @jantoodutta

You should be alright streaming videos on the Digital Ocean droplets as long as the copyrights are yours or if you are allowed to show it.

As for the how to, you can use different CMS platforms to built your website or you can just built it up from scratch, it’s entirely up to you.

  • Thanks for your answer. Actually I don’t want to build a website. I want to make an android app only where users can buy and watch video courses. Will it be sufficient to use only DigitalOcean space in this case. Is there any SDK available for Android to integrate DigitalOcean Space with Android.

    • Hello, @jantoodutta

You can use the DigitalOcean spaces product to store the videos. You will likely need more than one space if the videos are quite content heavy or if they’re just too many and exceeding the limits of one space.

You might need to develop your app and integrate it to work with the Spaces. There are some existing apps that connect to the DigitalOcean spaces available in github which you can check as a reference and example.

      Hope that helps!

    • Did you find your answer? How are you developing the android app? I’m building one using Unity and AV Movie Pro and it works quite well and it supports HLS that will help with streaming your content.

  • hey alex,

i am designing same kind of web application, just want to confirm is your server providing any kind of special encryption and protection for video hosting. so that any one can’t download our propitiatory videos

    • Hello, @vikrammalihan

The encryption will come from the software you’re using for the streaming service.

I can recommend you to try the Ant Media Server which is also available as one-click install from our marketplace:

      • Open Source Ant Media Server
      • Simulcasting to Periscope
