Is there a way to preview the site/application without pointing an actual domain? For instance [ptr].digitalocean.com or [ptr].[IP Address].com or something similar?

Hello there,
Your application should be accessible using the droplet’s IP address.
However, if you’ve used custom domain names in the configuration you can still access the application from your droplet using your local hosts file, or using any site that offers to preview the site from a different IP address.
You can check this question for more information on how to modify your local hosts file
