Istio installation via Rancher on EC2 does not expose external ip for Load Balancer

Posted on September 12, 2019

I am trying to install istio on a kubernetes cluster setup through Rancher. I am using EC2 with 3 nodes. In the last step I am not able to find the ingressgatewayip as it shows <pending>. Please suggest, how I can find the ingressgateway_ip. What will be the URL to access istio dashboard.

The EXTERNAL IP is in <pending> status. Please let me know how to derive the external ip via which the istio dashboard can be accessed.

Have you tried using Droplets instead of EC2 instances to see if you would actually get an IP as described in the tutorial?
