There are no additional or hidden charges with Marketplace images, it’s just like regular Droplets.

Having said that, the Droplets that provide additional paid software are a little bit different. Different in the sense that the droplets still costs the same but the software that’s paid might need licensing which is not something that DigitalOcean can control.

Let’s talk more specific, about cPanel and WHM. You can use DigitalOcean’s marketplace to create a cPanel droplet with a free 15-day trial license. For further use beyond that point, a valid license will need to be purchased directly through cPanel. https://store.cpanel.net/view/cpanel/license-options?type=VPS

As per the past reply, there are no additional charges for droplets created from the Marketplace. Also, each app from the marketplace comes from a different vendor which is responsible for updates and so on.

New installations of cPanel come with a 15-day free trial. Later on, you will need to purchase a license through cPanel:
