Limitation of new accounts ?

Hello,

Excuse me my bad english.

After wasting three days trying to install a smtp server, only to be used by Wordpress, I discovered (after read an old message here in forum) D.O. put some limitation in new accounts.

I lost three days trying to install a mail server. Three days. And all the problem was with D.O. .

After I asked to support, I was told to sent personal data again, information like facebook profiles, my blog and personal site. When I made my account, I sent a digitalized of brazillian ID card to D.O. , too.

I searched in Terms and Services and I dont found nothing about limitations. Can someone to tell me the D.O. limitations for new users ?

I understand the limitations. To be honest, I think its fair. But if an user make a new account, please, send to the new user a list of limitations .

Hi,

Sorry to hear that your initial experience was so poor. The majority of users never have to verify their account, nor will they have their SMTP ports blocked. Due to recent increases in fraudulent sign ups that lead to abuse and SPAM, we have had to take extra precautions with new accounts that are created in certain contexts. We’re always looking at ways to improve the process, and weed out false positives.

You have a couple of options: you can open a support ticket and request the SMTP restriction to be lifted on your Droplet and they’ll usually do it if your account has some history and you explain the use case.

You can use a service like https://smtpfa.st/, SendGrid, Mailgun, or Postmark, much better for deliverability anyway. They allow SMTP over API, which is a good workaround and better for performance too.

Honestly the API route is usually the better option anyway, it is more reliable deliverability and you don’t have to worry about your IP getting blacklisted.
