Load Balancers dropping requests with a fixed pattern

Posted on March 15, 2026

We have few load balancers in TOR, they all drop requests during specific time periods, hourly, which are at

:27, :32, :33, :34, :43, :55 every hour

We ran curl command every second to see the pattern, and it was confirmed. curl directly to IP of load balancers still experiences the request drops.

time_namelookup, time_connect, time_appconnect, time_starttransfer, time_total 0.001709 0.016332 0.083841 0.000000 10.002891

All laod balancers drop requests, time_starttransfer is 0 and time_total is the timeout of the curl, this happens at the specific times, every hour.

We already created a ticket with DO, but wanted to check and see if anyone else experience such issues with DO load balancers.

Heya, @6efbf601fa8e49c884398e706c4672

You’ve already done the right thing opening a ticket. With that level of detail (consistent minutes, multiple LBs, curl timing output) support should be able to escalate this to the networking team pretty quickly. If you haven’t already, include the specific LB IDs and the region, that’ll help them correlate it with any known maintenance windows or infra-level jobs running in TOR.
