My Droplet stopped working. Increasingly unreliable!

Posted on December 15, 2020

I have been with DO for more than a year now. I was impressed with how easy it is to create VMs, however, I have noticed that Droplets and in general all the other services are becoming increasingly unreliable.

I am running a business here so I was expecting the support team really help me out here but they are slow and most of the time very wage with their answers.

For instance, my Droplet stopped working and they said we can’t do much go and start over. This is one of the URLs that I received : https://howtoubuntu.org/how-to-repair-restore-reinstall-grub-2-with-a-ubuntu-live-cd

a CD?

I also created a brand new Droplet from the console but when I try to create a password for root I never receive the email.

Another example is when I try to create Droplet in Docker-Machine, suing the create command. I keep getting errors. All this used to work fine before.

I am really disappointed!

Hi there,

What is the exact error that you get for your old Droplet? An option in such cases is to restore to a backup so that you don’t have to start from scratch.

Regarding the recovery process, you can follow the steps here on how to use the recover Data from Droplets with the recovery ISO:

https://www.digitalocean.com/docs/droplets/resources/recovery-iso/

For the root password you should be able to specify the root password during the creation of the Droplet:

DigitalOcean Droplet password

Note the message in there:

You will not be sent an email containing the Droplet’s details or password. Please store your password securely.

Regards, Bobby
