Question

My Images Feature: How to use it?

 • Posted January 29, 2013

When creating a droplet I see a “my images” tab, but I can’t work out how to create or upload images. Is it actually a working feature?

Was there an answer to the question posed by jonas? Can we upload disk images?

and how about uploading images, in specified format?
to be able to set up your server in a test environement?
kind regards

Currently we do not support downloading images, however that will be possible in the near future.

Is there a way to download such images?
In what format they are?

Fantastic! Thanks for the quick reply :)

After your create a new server you can install your base architecture there like for instance a full rails stack.

The next time you want to deploy a server with a rails stack instead of starting from scratch just take a snapshot of the first server you created and that snapshot will appear under the “My Images” tab and you can launch a new server with that stack already installed.

That way you can create base systems, snapshot them, and then launch new servers from those snapshots whenever you need a fresh install.
