Question

Name servers pointing to droplet with Godaddy

Hi,

I just created a droplet and tried to point a .de domain into it. I got issue in godaddy and the support told me this :

“Since, .com domains are universal category and will be used by every individual and it will provide all the user friendly. Where as .de domains are particular domain which are in a high priority and has some set of limitations like name servers which are need to be updated as specified like Class C network which you need to take support of an IT guy who can help you on this particular nameservers.”

I asked for more details and got this :

“as we discussed, We need to update the nameservers which would support the particular domains. So as we see that you have .de domain and you need to update those details which are mentioned. Please search the particular region and contact your hosting provider whether nameservers supports the domain or not and then go ahead and update those nameservers.”

Do you have any idea what shall i do ?

Best regards Faissal

Hi there,

What I could suggest in this case is to keep your name servers with GoDaddy and just use the DNS zone that they provide.

That way you could then just add an A record for your domain name to point to your Droplet’s IP address and this will e enough to point your domain name to your Droplet.

For more information on how to add an A record to your GoDaddy DNS zone, you could follow the steps that they’ve provided here:

Let me know how it goes. Regards, Bobby
