Unless you’re using one of the one-click images, no, you’ll receive a barebones OS which you’ll need to build on (i.e. install a LAMP/LEMP Stack).

If you want to auto-deploy a LAMP Stack, when you click on Create Droplet, you’ll see three options:

One-Click Apps

Click on One-Click Apps and then select LAMP on 16.04 (third column, fifth one down).

When you create a droplet you can select from many disk images to start off with. To launch a LAMP server, on the create page click on the One-Click Apps tab and select the LAMP on 16.04 image. This will let you start out with an Ubuntu 16.04 droplet with a LAMP stack pre-installed.

  • Hi Guys,

Ok, I have done that. When I try to access via the IP address, I get “Please log into your droplet via SSH to configure your LAMP installation.” I thought this was already setup? I have tried starting apache2 with a variety of instructions but nothing works. The DO tutorials don’t help either. How do I check what has been installed as part of LAMP?

    • Apologies guys, I now see this is the default page in apache2. I’m listing the commands now to check apache2 status, etc. I think I am almost there.
