when i run sudo nginx -t, it passes and everything is ok. However, when i run a sudo systemctl reload nginx, I fails and I get the nginx.service failure message.

Without the error message, it gets a little difficult to help you :-) Also include the last 20 lines of the error log:
tail -20 /var/log/nginx/error.log
