Now that Microsoft release core .NET Framework. Is posible to run an ASP.NET 5 website on Linux?

Posted on September 6, 2015

Seem to be posible: https://github.com/aspnet/home#linux I currently don’t undestand how ASP.NET can work on Linux or if I’m misinterpreting. If is a reality, this can lead me to jump on ASP.NET and build a website with a server here in DigitalOcean.

I followed the MS documentation but at this step below a large amount of dependencies where not found. sudo apt-get install libunwind8 gettext libssl-dev libcurl4-openssl-dev zlib1g libicu-dev uuid-dev

Did anyone actually try this? I attempted the setup on ubuntu 14 and 15.

Yes. While we do not currently provide any documentation related to running ASP on a droplet you should not have a problem setting this up. Microsoft provides some documentation on how to get set up here.

I’d love to see a DO tutorial on using .net core with linux.
