Does anyone have any optimisation tips/tutorials for VPS droplets… i’m running the smallest package at the minute, setup a really simple page that should load instantly, but there is a very slight delay.
I’m running cent os 6.4 apache 2.2 php 5.4… is there any recommended software to install? removing/disabling unnecessary stuff? I’m not really an expert so any guides or info would be great.

I didn’t do any optimizations besides swap and just recently did that and my pages load instantly using the smallest droplet. I was getting like 500 hits/downloads a day of large files and it ran perfect on the small droplet. Also running a mail server on it. I’m not an expert but I think 512 droplet is plenty for a lamp stack.
Apache uses a lot of RAM if there’s quite a bit of concurrent connections. I suggest switching to nginx as it uses less CPU and RAM in general:

https://www.digitalocean.com/community/articles/how-to-set-up-nginx-virtual-hosts-server-blocks-on-centos-6
