Our website developer disappeared. What do we do now?

Posted on July 16, 2021

Hello,

I hope someone can help us. We are a small non-profit organization and about 7 months ago we hired a web developer to create a new website for us. He worked very closely with us designing, coding and implementing the new site to our specifications. It’s about 90% done and we have a list of updates and bugs he was working on when he just disappeared. He doesn’t return any of our calls, texts or emails. He disappeared shortly after starting a new job and moving into a new home with his soon to be pregnant new wife so I can only assume life got too overwhelming for him and it’s been over a month now since we last had any contact with him.

Our website is hosted on DigitalOcean on his account. We own the domain name which is still maintained under an account we have with ipower. We love our new website and we want to find a new web developer who can take over. Our website is: https://www.michaelchekhov.org/ which keeps crashing and then re-setting. (he was suppose to fix that too).

Can anyone help us?

Thanks,

Tom

Hey @tomorr2000,

In our public community, we aim to answer open questions about anything SysAdmin, DigitalOcean and beyond. However, we make every attempt to keep personal information safe and so don’t ever access personal account information here. This means we can’t provide help with any account or billing-related issues.

Please reach out to our amazing support team who will be more than happy to assist you with your account issue! :)

Hope that helps! - Alex.
