Heya,
When you receive the OOM message (OUT OF MEMORY), it means your Droplet is reaching it’s limits. This would prompt you to do 2 things usually, either upgrade or find what’s taking the Memory and remove it( if possible).
You can always use SWAP as well but that is mostly to help rather than to rely on it at all times. Swap is a portion of hard drive storage that has been set aside for the operating system to temporarily store data that it can no longer hold in RAM. This lets you increase the amount of information that your server can keep in its working memory, with some caveats. The swap space on the hard drive will be used mainly when there is no longer sufficient space in RAM to hold in-use application data.

Having said that, my suggestion would be to both add 1 GB of SWAP using the tutorials in the link above AND upgrade your Droplet.
