Outbound TCP port 25 is blocked

I have a CentOS droplet with Plesk installed and I’m trying to use Postfix to send email from the server.

Even though there’s no Firewall running that I know of it looks like Port 25 is blocked preventing the server from sending email.

Is this something Digital Ocean do at a higher level or could there be another explanation?

Hello all,

It is possible that port 25 is closed for new accounts. This is something we have been doing to reduce spam on our network. Please do not think that we are accusing you of sending spam, it is more that we simply cannot accurately determine who is going to send it.

Stopping spam is a constant fight, so we have implemented some restrictions on newer accounts. To qualify for the ability to send out email, we do require accounts to wait 60 days before we can look into removing the restriction. Once your account has reached 60 days of stable use, please do reach back out to us so we can look into this for you.

they block port 25, it’s a bad vps and make it difficult for users to set up email
have to use a 3rd party for email business and it costs more

only for the reason spam should be tackled, that’s your job, there are powerful tools for that, so don’t create new users, because they are just learning, not experts
