I have build my first ruby rails app. I have build it locally mac os maverick. While creating a new droplet (my first droplet @ digital ocean) I can’t figure out which ubuntu version I have to choose. I have checked out article and tutorial section of you site, but they do not give any suggestion about that. Do you have any suggestions?
The other thing I am concerned about that my development environment en and production environment would be running on different OSes, would this cause any problems? Should I install a ubuntu development environment on my mac OS Mavericks?
I am sorry, if am asking stupid questions, I am quite new to this. I just want to figure out how could have two similar environments, where one would be hosted by you and the other would be set up on computer.

I would setup a virtualbox to choose the OS I might like the most.
As a rule of thumb when presenting linux to others , I would start out with a fedora installation.
Ubuntu isn’t really one of the best choises in my opinion. There’s too much hype behind it and exploit are common nowadays. But,as always,it is up to you.
Also, since Ruby on Rails is a cross-platform framework , you won’t find many problems as it available virtually on anything , thus, you shouldn’t find to many hassles if the goal is to deploy your app to the public ;)
Hope this helps. I’ll leave the rest to the experts out there 8)
