SSL not working after installing certbot certificate on nginx

Posted on February 13, 2022

Hello,

I’ve been trying to add SSL using certbot on nginx server, but I am getting this error after adding SSL net::ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR

I am not sure if that’s because I have done bad configuration anywhere or is it HTTPS error with certbot ?

Kindly help if you have any clues!

The net::ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR you’re encountering can be caused by several factors. Misconfiguration in your NGINX server block settings, improper Certbot installation, or issues with your SSL certificate could be potential culprits.

It would be important for you to double-check your configuration files in NGINX to make sure the SSL directives are correctly configured. Also, ensure that the whole process of Certbot’s installation has been properly executed.

For a more detailed and step-by-step guide on achieving this, kindly refer to this complete tutorial in the DigitalOcean community on “How to Secure Nginx with Let’s Encrypt on Ubuntu”.

Hope that this helps!
