Subdomain to Digital ocean / Plesk

Posted on May 11, 2020

Hi guys, I am new to this sorry if this is an easy question.

I am looking to setup up a subdomain and point that to a plesk installation that is on digital ocean. The nameserver is pointed to netlify because that is where the main site is hosted.

Desired outcome xyz.com -> stay as is netlify app.xyz.com -> plesk dedicated ip

I have set up an A redirect in netlify to ip 1.2.3.4 (dedicated IP setup in plesk)

I am not sure on what to do now. Can someone advise the best way to do this?

Hi there @jakeWhale,

I think that you’ve got it all covered actually, you need to point your subdomain name to your Droplet’s IP address and then add your subdomain name as a new website to your Plesk server.

Note that it can take up to 24 hours for the DNS cache to clear over the Globe before you could see your actual changes.

Let me know if you have any questions! Regards, Bobby
