Transfering nameservers and MX records with Namecheap

Posted on January 3, 2015

Hi,

I currently have my MX records working via Namecheap, but I worry that doing anything configuration-wise with nameservers and Digital Ocean will mean that I’ll have to re-configure those (with little or not instruction) to Digital Ocean.

I’m not clear on all of this so I thought I would ask: If I have working MX records on Namecheap but transfer nameservers to the Digital Ocean nameservers, do I need to reconfigure MX records, etc?

Thanks in advance,

If you transfer you nameservers to DO you will need to recreate the MX records along with any other A AAAA, CNAME, TXT, and SRV records that point to any hosting you have running…

\You do not have to move your nameservers info to DO. If you create a droplet you can just add the droplet ip A record to your namecheap dns.
